Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (46-28/17-17)
SYRACUSE 8, WORCESTER 6 (BOX)
Syracuse found themselves fighting from behind for most of this game, trailing from the third inning on, at points considerably. In the fourth, down 4-1, they plated a run, in the sixth, they plated two more to make it a 4-3 ballgame. Things looked grim in the top of the eighth, when Wooster scored two runs of their own to increase Syracuse’s deficit, but in the bottom of the inning, the Mets came roaring back, and then some. With the bases loaded, Carlos Cortes singled into right to score three runs and tie the game at 6 apiece. Luis Acuna doubled to score two more, and that was the ballgame, as Shintaro Fujinami tossed a scoreless inning.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (35-32/18-15)
BINGHAMTON 6, SOMERSET 4 (BOX)
Binghamton drew first blood in the Double-A Subway Series, taking the first game of the series on the power of a fairly strong Joander Suarez outing. The right-hander gave up a pair of earned runs in six-plus innings, scattering 7 hits, walking 1, and striking out 9. He’s a strikeout-artist, Joander; he knows how to strike batters out. Nobody can strike batters out like he can strike batters out. Nobody. And the hitters in the Eastern League will tell you that. Joander strikes the best batters out. When Joander is pitching, Binghamton will start winning again, winning like never before. Joander is a winner. He’s always won, and he’s going to continue to win. And that’s the way it is. Joander loves Binghamton. And Binghamton loves him! They have a great relationship.
No one Rumble Pony batter particularly touched up Patriots starter Bailey Dees or the relievers that followed him, but the team managed to crank out 11 hits, plating 6 total runs. Binghamton put the game to bed in the seventh, as they broke a 2-2 tie by putting up a four-spot.

POSTPONED (RAIN)
Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (22-44/12-23)
BRADENTON 9, ST. LUCIE 5 (BOX)
Wellington Aracena is certainly no John Cena, because the Marauders hitters had no trouble seeing him or his pitches, touching the right-hander up for five runs in the first two innings. St. Lucie was able to load the bases up and recoup some of those runs. Down 6-3 in the seventh, they scored two more in the bottom of the inning to make it a close 6-5 ballgame, but things ended on a wet fart when reliever Cristofer Gomez gave up three Bradenton runs in the top of the ninth.
